    On page 1, beginning on line 15, after "employment" strike all material through "transcripts," on line 16 and insert "and financial aid,"

    On page 1, line 17, after "law." insert "The institutions may use the social security number of any student, staff, or faculty member for the purpose of research, assessment, accountability, and transcripts as long as students, staff, and faculty members are given an opportunity at the time they submit their social security numbers to prevent their social security numbers from being used for purposes other than employment and financial aid, or as otherwise required by state or federal law."

    Renumber the sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Assures that the social security number is not used as a personal identifier for purposes other than employment and financial aid unless permission is given by students, faculty or staff of an institution of higher education.
